Pumza and Than started Gilead church as a Home Cell with only 8 members and now it has expanded to more than 70 members. Gilead Church is a church with a servant’s heart as its purpose is to reach the unreached, love the unloved, and touch the untouched through the power of Jesus Christ and the work of the Holy Spirit. The purpose of the church is for God to minister to church attendants during the church morning services on Sundays at 10 am. Gilead Church believes that God gave us “only one life and it shall soon pass; but only that which is done for Christ will last!”
Through Gilead Church, the Lord has transformed and renewed lives. We have seen people from the dark coming into light by accepting Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord! “The Lord has done this and it is marvelous in our eyes….then our mouths were filled with laughter, and our tongues with songs of joy” (Ps.118:23; 126:2).

To further reach the nonbelievers, Gilead Church started Children Sunday School in December 2007 with 2 kids which has now increased to more than 15. These children are taught God’s word in Sunday School during the church morning service. As most of these kids are from Hindu background, the teachers build relationship with them to gain their trust. Since building relationship is the key to minister to the lost in India, the Sunday school teachers visit their houses for prayer and fellowship so that not only the children will be transformed but also the parents of the unchurched children.
“Gilead Church is my church home away from home. It is where I attend services each Sunday morning, where I serve as needed, and where I get to be a part of what God is doing in this country. I am so thankful to have Gilead as my church home. It’s like an oasis for me- a place of worship as well as fellowship. I thank you so much for your support of this organization. Know that the students are reaching out to their neighborhood in the form of a Sunday School. They visit the mostly Hindu families. In one year, the Sunday School has grown from just three children to two classes totaling 18-20 children each week. The students are learning how to start and grow a Sunday School." As Jesus declared in Mtt 9:37, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few,” Gilead Church is more than committed to continue to advance the kingdom of God in India. This is because we know that only the resurrected power of Christ can transform more than 97% of Indians who are still unreached.
